19 May 2025, Monday, 4 – 5pm, ACMI/Zoom

Overview:
This professional development event is designed for museum educators seeking to strengthen the alignment of museum programs with the Victorian Curriculum (F–10) and VCE Study Designs. By ensuring that museum programs directly support key learning areas, schools can more easily integrate these experiences into their teaching, leading to increased participation, deeper student engagement, and stronger partnerships with schools.

Attendees will hear from experts from the Department of Education, school leadership, and museum education, who will share insights on best practices for curriculum alignment, engaging schools, and creating meaningful learning experiences.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Curriculum Alignment Strategies – Mapping museum programs to the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Supporting VCE Study Designs – Enhancing student engagement in their VCE studies.
  • Developing Effective Educational Resources – Creating lesson plans, pre-/post-visit activities, and assessment tasks that reinforce museum learning and make participation more accessible for schools.
  • Engaging Teachers and Students – Best practices for teacher professional development, museum outreach, and interactive student experiences that encourage repeat school visits.
