Games are an increasingly popular way to engage diverse audiences and can be tailored to highlight specific collection, exhibition, content, or educational outcomes. This workshop demystifies the game design process for museum professionals, focusing on low-cost, low-tech strategies to transform collection or exhibition stories into interactive experiences.
Participants will explore genres such as interactive fiction, scavenger hunts, escape rooms, and role-play; and learn how these approaches can be adapted for physical, digital, or hybrid environments. The session will also cover methods for measuring impact and success with target audiences.
This workshop offers an excellent opportunity to network with fellow museum educators, share ideas, and discuss innovative engagement strategies. Join us to expand your toolkit for creating engaging, playful experiences that bring your museum’s collections to life.
